| The
UniRiser benefits iMac users with increased ergonomic positioning
of the computer at the workstation. External peripherals, items
like Zip drives, CD writer, CDs, disc drives and small hubs
can be conveniently parked out of the workspace thus allowing
more available desktop space for required tasks. Placing these
items under and on top of the UniRiser's shelf encourages increased
desk organization and efficiency. |

Usefulness: 4
Overall:
Does
you neck hurt after awhile because your iMac is not at eye
level? Then you might try the UniRiser.
I
also found another interesting use for the UniRiser. If you
have an iBook with an USB mouse, keyboard and drive, set the
iBook on the stand and plug in your mouse, keyboard and drive.
You'll have your iBook at eye level and a neat docking station.
While
3 3/4" may not seem so much higher, when you see an iMac
with the added height you will notice a big difference.

Contour Design should change
their name. Something like "We Make Really Cool iMac
Toys" would be appropriate. Time and time again, this
company comes up with ergonomic and practical antidotes to
answer the woes of iMac owners.
It differs from competing products
in that it not only rises the level of your tasty iMac 4 inches
to a more comfortable viewing level, but it also provides
a space saving shelf where you can store a few small iMac
peripherals like Zip Drives and unused input devices. In addition,
the UniRiser will trick all of your friends into thinking
that you really have a nifty Apple Studio Display instead
of an iMac.

The UniRiser is an elegantly
crafted plastic stand that contains notches on the top to
snugly fit either first or second generation iMacs.
...there is plenty of room
to place small USB peripherals under and on top of the UniRiser's
tray. We were able to snugly tuck away a couple of USB hubs,
a portable VST FireWire hard drive, a Zip drive, and a MyTV/fm,
freeing up good deal of desk space.

The UniRiser comes in the same
kind of frosted plastic as the "ice" part of the
iMac, so it complements any iMac regardless of color. The
styling is reminiscent of Apple's blue-and-white Studio Displays;
if anything, it makes the iMac look even more modern.
There's room under the shelf
to slide the keyboard, although you'll have to do that at
an angle. You can store the mouse, CDs, an external drive,
or other small items on the shelf beneath the iMac.
