Installation
Instructions
1. BEFORE YOU BEGIN
To update an existing RollerMouse driver set, follow the
instructions for a first time install. Removing the existing
driver is not necessary.
Other mouse software
may interfere with installation or use of the RollerMouse
driver; please remove them before installing
the RollerMouse driver:
- From the Start menu, select
Settings, Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs.
- Select any mouse software
that appears on the list.
- Click Add/Remove to remove
the mouse software.
- Restart Windows and confirm
that only the standard Mouse Properties pages are present
(Buttons, Pointers, Motion and Hardware). If other pages
remain, check your existing mouse documentation for removal
instructions.
2.
DRIVER INSTALLATION
Make sure that your RollerMouse is set in
advanced mode (dip switch placed in the
UP position):

For best results, first connect
the RollerMouse to any available USB port, and allow Windows
to install its default driver:
- Windows 98 displays the
Add New Hardware Wizard which asks you where to look for
drivers. Do not supply the driver disk at this time. Just
accept the
standard search without options (no floppy drive, CD-ROM
or user specified location). In some cases, you may be
prompted to insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM for necessary
system files.
- Windows Me, 2000 and XP
do this automatically.
After Windows installs the
default USB driver, the mouse will be operational. You can
then upgrade your installation to use the enhanced Contour
driver set.
Installing the driver requires system-adminstrator security
privileges on Windows 2000 and XP. When you are ready to
proceed:
- Create the directory "contour"
on the drive you can access (usually c:\ or d:\ drive)
- Download the file r5u303.zip.
- Save it on the directory
just created.
- Unzip the file r5u303.zip
in the same directory.
- Run Setup.
- Follow the prompts to install
the driver.
Notes:
- For Windows 2000 and
XP users: the RollerMouse driver is not digitally-signed
by Microsoft. A warning message may appear during the
installation. Click OK to proceed with the installation.
- To check the RollerMouse
driver version, right click the tray icon and select
About Mouse.
