The
movement of my PS2 mouse is not fluent anymore. |
|
A:
|
Before calling for replacement
or repair, please make sure that both the ball and the wheels
are clean.
To do so, turn your mouse upside
down, rotate the plastic and remove the ball. Clean the ball
with soap. Inside the mouse you'll see two metal wheels and
a plastic one, that you may clean with a small amount of alcohol
and a cotton swab.

Q:
|
I want to program the mouse
buttons. I click on 'Set Buttons' and the cursor disappears.
|
|
A:
|
Press the mouse buttons to make
the cursor appear again.
The 'Set Buttons' button doesn't
allow you to program the buttons. To program the buttons,
please refer to the following FAQ.
The 'Set Buttons' button allows
you to change the buttons settings. By
default:
- the left button is the Primary
Button
- the right button is the Secondary
Button
- and the middle button is
the Auxiliary Button.
Once you have clicked the 'Set
Buttons' button, press the mouse buttons in the order you want
the settings to be performed. The first button you'll press
will be the Primary Button, the second button will be the Secondary
button and the third button the Auxiliary button. |

| Q: |
The middle
button doesn't work on X-Windows. |
| A:
|
Choose
PS/2 wheel mouse instead of generic 3 button PS/2 mouse
in your mouse configuration window.
Or modify the XF86Config file as follows:
search for
Section "InputDevice"
and modify the line
Option "Protocol" ...
(or add it after the "Driver" key if it doesn't
exist)
into
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"

Q:
|
I've installed the drivers,
but get no cursor. What did I do wrong?
|
|
A:
|
If you are using a serial port,
it could be as simple as not having the switch under the mouse
in the right position. The switch under the mouse needs to
be in the PC position when using our driver as a 3-button
mouse. Try restarting the computer with the switch in the
PC position.
If that does not work, then it may be that you were configured
for the "Standard" version of the Windows 95 mouse
driver before installing the Contour drivers. Click
here for instructions on re-configuring the system.

Q:
|
I loaded version 2.02 of the
software and programmed the buttons, but each time I load
Windows the buttons don't seem to work. I have to run the
Contour Control Panel and they start working.
|
|
A:
|
You are missing a line in your
WIN.INI file. Edit the WIN.INI file, look in the [windows]
section. There is a line that starts out "load=".
There may be things referenced after the = sign. One of the
references needs to be: C:\CMOUSE\PCCMAIN.EXE. Just add that
part after the = sign and the settings will load each time
you go into Windows.

Q:

I loaded version 2.02 of the
software and restarted Windows. I get a message "The
file 'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\GRID.VBX' is out of date. This program
requires a newer version".. Or a similar message about
PROCHOOK.DLL.
|
|
A:
|
These two files are common files
for programs that use Visual Basic. The solution is to copy
our version of the file(s) to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
The files are located in the \CMOUSE directory. We recommend
copying the original files to a temporary directory before
replacing them, just in case...
